Full Description
1947. Stray Find.
Found in topsoil of gravel pit:
1 prehistoric perforated stone macehead (circular). Non calcareous, fairly rough quartzite grit (Larwood). Donated to Norwich Castle Museum (NWHCM : 1947.100). Information from (S1).
This object is listed as potentially Mesolithic in (S2) and (S3). It should however be noted that objects of this type are generally not seen as closely datable, having been found in both Mesolithic and later prehistoric context.
