Summary

The discovery in 1964 of ash and briquetage deposits during trenching works confirmed the suspicion that neighbouring mounds (NHER 27886) are salterns and probably date to the medieval period.

Ash and briquetage visible 1.2m to 2.1m (4 to 7 feet) deep in trenches over a wide area confirms supposition that neighbouring mounds are salterns.
