Summary

This Georgian red brick great house was built in the early 1780s. The building has five bays and three storeys with an outer staircase with two flights of stairs curving up to the entrance. The Lodge is claimed to be the highest situated mansion in Norfolk at 96m above sea level. William Cowper stayed here in 1795.

1784, Georgian red-brick box, five bays, three storeys, with top storey smaller central bay on south projects slightly. Outer staircase with two flights curving up to entrance. Interiors said to be original.

(S1) dates house to 1783 but (S2) states rainheads are dated 1785. Claimed to be highest situated mansion in county (96m) Cowper stayed here in 1795.
